Drug addiction is an important issue that is not confined to one country, area or group, and opioid addiction has been particularly devastating. One Voice Choir-Ghana joins Sound Lion Records global campaign to raise awareness about addiction and mental health using the theme song “Mama Don’t Give Up”. The Choir was formed out of the passion displayed by young men and women for gospel choral music and contemporary Ghanaian tunes. They perform repertoire from gospel music, patriotic songs as well as music that addresses social phenomena. Notable awards won by the group includes, Choir of the Year 2019-Ghana Youth Choir Choral Festival, Choral Song of the Year 2019, Composer’s Concert of the Year 2017, Third(III) Degree Diploma at the 21st International Stasys Simkus Choir Competition, Choral Album of the Year 2015, etc.
The group intends to use this collaborative effort to bring awareness to addiction and the opioid crisis using their musical talents. Addiction is a chronic disease with biological, psychological and environmental factors that affects millions of people around the world.
